What version of Exchange 2007 fro Hub\CAS\UM roles?
Can someone help assist on why I would need\want the Enterprise version of Exchange 2007for a server with only Hub, CAS and UM roles installed? I understand about the complinace features with premium journaling and records management. I mainly am looking for any gains for CAS and UM.
I will be running the Enterprise version on the servers with mailbox roles, however I want to justify spending the extra cost for the other roles.
Thanks,
Jay

I don't see any reason, even the premium MRM stuff is CAL based not server version based (ent cal vs standard cal).

Hi,
Exchange Server is licensed in the Server / Client Access License (CAL) model.
Server side, we have standard and enterprise edition. You can select to purchase either of them for your Exchange Server base on the storage group that you will have for your Exchange Organization.
Client side, we need CAL to access Exchange Server. Therere standard CAL and Enterprise CAL.
The Exchange Server Enterprise CAL provides access to Unified Messaging and advanced compliance, as well as Forefront Security for Exchange Server and Exchange Hosted Filtering for onsite and hosted antivirus and anti-spam protection.
The Exchange Server Standard CAL provides access to e-mail, shared calendaring and Outlook Web Access (OWA).
So for UM, it need Enterprise CAL. For client access like OWA, ActiveSync, you need standard CAL.
